The Opportunity

With our continued growth we're excited to announce an opportunity for a passionate Allied Health Assistant to join our team at St Gabriel’s School. You will become an integral part of our dynamic Allied Health Team, focused on providing exceptional care to our students and school community. The team works closely with families, staff and external stakeholders to support students achieve their individualised goals and optimise their function and independence within the classroom and school community.

In this role you will be provided with supportive supervision and professional development opportunities. You will work closely with an experienced multidisciplinary team of Allied Health professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in delivering individual and group interventions in collaboration with an Allied Health Clinician, or under their direction.

  • Regularly monitor student treatment plans with the Allied Health Team to communicate progress, address concerns, and identify when a review may be necessary.

  • Support the preparation and supervision of program participants as directed by the Allied Health Team.

  • Assist in maintaining detailed and accurate progress notes.

  • Maintain the therapy space, including setting up before groups and individual sessions and clearing up afterward.

  • Assist in supervising students in the classroom setting.

  • Engage in continuous professional development.

  • Provide administrative support as needed.

  • Assist in providing coaching and support for families and staff members.

  • Support in the facilitation of group programs and individual therapy sessions.

  • Collaborate closely with key stakeholders to ensure effective communication.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement through regular evaluation and training.

  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to achieve the best outcomes for students.

  • Develop resources for staff and students as directed by the Allied Health Team.

 

Selection Criteria

  • A thorough understanding of the mission of St Gabriel’s and the charism of Blessed Edmund Rice.

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a similar role.

  • Possess a student-centred approach.

  • Meticulous attention to detail.

  •  A genuine passion for making a positive impact in the lives of children and families with additional needs.

  • Ability to work autonomously in a school setting.

  • Valid Working with Children Check.

  • Will have highly developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, capable of articulating treatment processes and expected outcomes clearly.

  • Will have a passion for delivering high quality care working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance is desirable.

  • Knowledge of the NDIS is desirable.
