The Opportunity
We are seeking a full-time School Psychologist with the possibility of an immediate start. This role involves assisting students, teachers and parents to enhance educational outcomes and promote holistic wellbeing. We encourage experienced Psychologists who have extensive experience working with students with intellectual and sensory disabilities to apply.
Key Responsibilities
The School Psychologist is employed to apply their psychological and educational expertise to assist students, parents, teachers and School Executive to achieve the most beneficial outcomes for students.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Offer group or individual strategies to support students in managing their emotions and behavioural responses.
Develop programs to assist students with their mental health and socioemotional well-being.
Participate in student meetings to address concerns pertinent to the mental health, behaviours of concern and safety of all students and other needs.
Lead meetings and training to assist parents in ascertaining the best interventions for their child.
Selection Criteria
Relevant qualifications and AHPRA Registration.
Previous experience in an educational, clinical or counselling setting working with children and adolescents.
Previous experience in an educational, clinical or counselling setting working with children and adolescents with disabilities is desirable.
Well-developed relationship-building skills and the strength to engage positively with staff, students, parents/guardians and other key stakeholders.
Previous experience in developing and implementing sibling support programs.
Experience in providing evidence-based interventions for individuals and groups, with an emphasis on academic, social and emotional challenges in schools and in the community.
The ability to work collaboratively with Allied Health team professionals to develop interventions to support students, families and staff.
Strong records maintenance in accordance with APS and AHPRA guidelines.
A commitment to achieving high-quality outcomes for students with complex disabilities including quality of life, post-school, educational, social, emotional and behavioural outcomes.
Demonstrated commitment to the NSW Office of Children’s Guardian Child Safe Standards.
Current Working with Children Check.
Australian Citizen, permanent resident or a valid visa with full working rights in Australia.
